Help us to protect these gardens and to preserve the site where Dr. Henry Nehrling
lived and gardened.
What is Our Goal?

The Henry Nehrling Society is in the process of purchasing the remaining 6 acres of Henry Nehrling's original Palm Cottage Gardens to preserve Nehrling's legacy as one of Florida's outstanding pioneer horticulturalists. The home and garden will become a History and Horticultural Education Center focusing environmental conservation.

The Society is seeking donations and/or acquisition pledges in the amount of $650,000 from individuals, businesses and organizations to purchase the property and for project startup. To see Current Fund Raising Status click here.

The timing is critical. Your support is urgently needed since this property could be purchased at any time for development and destroyed. This site is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been recently recognized as One of Florida’s Eleven Most Endangered Historic Sites.

Honorary Deeds to parcels of the property are available beginning at $50.00 for a one square yard parcel. All donors will receive an Honorary Deed and will have their names permanently recorded at the site for their preservation efforts. All donations are tax deductible and donors will be recognized as appropriate in newsletters, publicity and events unless otherwise requested.

 (20 - 200 Honorary Deed parcels) will receive a free one-year Society/Garden Membership for each $1,000 contributed.
$10,000 - $25,000
 (200 - 500 Honorary Deed parcels) will receive a life time Society/Garden membership.
$25,000 - $50,000
 (500 - 1000 Honorary Deed parcels) will have the opportunity to name one of the principal garden paths at Palm Cottage Gardens.
$50,000 - $100,000
 and above will receive an Honorary Deed, publicity event and have the opportunity to name one of the principal buildings or garden sites such as:
  • Wildlife Observation Deck
  • Classroom I
  • Classroom II
  • Green House
  • Pathway into Nehrling Gardens
