Nehrling Gardens (a project of The Henry Nehrling Society) is seeking multiple part-time volunteers to coordinate various facets of the volunteer program. The listed Requirements and Responsibilities encompass everything to be handled by volunteer coordinators and reflects the Society's current needs. Applicants will be expected to declare their commitments for coordination efforts based on this list.
This volunteer position is approximately 10 hours per week (hours are flexible).
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Update volunteer schedule and list of events, including “Henry Nehrling Society” and “HNS Administration” calendars within Google Apps, as appropriate.
- Assist in evaluating, recruiting and training volunteers for the Society.
- Recruit volunteers to commit to regular one-day, short-term, and long-term volunteer projects (details of the size and scope of these projects will be provided by the appropriate committee or the Board of Directors)
- Assist in presenting the Society to local organizations to obtain volunteers and collaborate on service events
- Collect and manage feedback from all parties involved in volunteer activities, including volunteers, Society members, and community members through written reports, testimonials, and verbal comments
- Share feedback with committee chairs and/or the Board of Directors to acknowledge strengths, successes and to make improvements for future volunteer activities.
- Evaluate volunteer applications and make recommendations to the appropriate Committee or Board of Directors.
- Research relevant community organizations to coordinate additional volunteer partnership/cooperative opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers through check-in phone calls, e-mails, and personal appreciations for their efforts.
- Enter any manually recorded volunteer hours or documents into volunteer database.
- Collect and manage feedback from all parties involved in volunteer activities, including volunteers, Society members, and community members through written reports, testimonials, and verbal comments.
- Share feedback with committee chairs and/or the Board of Directors to acknowledge strengths, successes and to make improvements for future volunteer activities.
- Software applications: Word, Excel, Joomla and CiviCRM. (Training for Joomla and CiviCRM will be provided.)
